I Heart Nasty Little Press

Hello. I had a lovely package of poetry joy in the post from Nasty Little Press today. I ordered all their books. Yes all of them. They are not expensive and they are great. I know John Osborne and Salena Godden, I've seen Byron perform quite a lot, I like Luke Wright's stuff and I've been wanting to see Molly Naylor live for ages. The other two I decided to risk. I'd like it if they published a poetry pamphlet of mine. This is a blog love letter of sorts to them. I'll write more if I have to.

These are the pamphlets/ books I bought. You should buy them too. Also sign up for their mailing list, they send you Ration Books of poems in PDF form. I got one today. It had an ace poem by Rising/ Donut Press superstar Tim Wells. He once published one of my poems. I really should send him some more.

Some Snaps from The Forecourt Fringe and The Laugharne Weekend

Well that was a Laugharne Weekend! Thanks to the lovely  Meinir Min Evans  for having us at the beautiful draped The Forecourt Fringe on Saturday and Sunday. Such a pretty stage to perform on. Thanks to my co-host, driver and star poet  Natalie Ann Holborow  and to my wonderful readers including  Oliver James Lomax ,  Mari Ellis ,  Rhys Owain Williams , Tyler Keevil,  Sion Tomos Owen ,  Anne Pelleschi  and  Lee Prosser .  Beautiful music from Sion and the man forever to be known as Tyler's (no good) brother. Thanks to Emyr Young for the photo studio Parthian is 25 shoot, and to  Jeff Towns  and  Huw Davie  for the book bus gig and gifts and to all of you who bought our books / us drinks and entertained/charmed/impressed us over the weekend.  I also really enjoyed seeing other acts at The Laugharne Weeke nd as well including  Euros Childs (favourite gig of the year so far), Joe Dunthorne, Garth Cartwright and Travis Elborough and having a really good dance to Eugene Defrei

Lettuce Crisis: 'Waste, Not Want'

It feels appropriate to share this poem from my first collection Better Houses today...

Do Not Go Gentle

Back to Swansea we went, for my third Better Houses tour gig in the city... this time at Do Not Go Gentle festival, which had made the move from the Uplands to the city centre. I was reading with the excellent Emily Blewitt, and it always a pleasure to share the stage with her. We were upstairs at No Sign Wine Bar. I used to work as a waitress in a cocktail bar (Indigo, which was part of the building) when I was an undergraduate (my glamorous youth). Thanks to Pierre for booking us and all who came along to see me perform my words in a slightly more nervous than usual manner (Mother was visiting). Les, who stored my furniture for me during one of the many moving times of my life also came along and bought a book! (I've only been inviting him to my readings for 12 years! (It was lovely to see him)). I didn't take any photos, but it did happen.
